MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's premier database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the preclinical sciences. It provides searchable access to citations and abstracts of journal articles.
The major services that provide free or fee-based access to MEDLINE are listed
below along with selected user guides. MEDLINEplus provides guides to specific health topics, with shortcut links to preformulated MEDLINE searches (in PubMed) for various aspects of those topics.
Health professionals affiliated with schools or hospitals should inquire about access through the library at their institution which often includes training and support services. The National Network of Libraries of Medicine is dedicated to making the world's biomedical information available to all U.S. health professionals. If you are a health professional or consumer without access to a medical library, contact the regional office in your area at 1-800-338-7657.
